Snowy maps in games should (obviously) come with snow themed music. The songs I like have a certain feel to it: in most cases, even if you haven’t played the game you’ll know it’s a song played in white, cold areas. Here are some of my favorites.
Winterbliss by cycerin (from Castle Crashers)
The White Skies (Club Mix) by bLiNd (a remix of Final Fantasy X’s People of the North Pole song by Nobuo Uematsu)
Snow Storm (Original Mix) by DJ Taka (from Beatmania, Dance Dance Revolution)
Metal Gear Solid is awesome. Not just because the games are near perfect, not just because Harry Gregson Williams (among others) composes the music and not just because Snake is such an awesome character but because it features amazing theme songs. First was Cynthia Harrell with Snake Eater for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. And now with the upcoming Peacewalker game for the PSP comes Donna Burke with Heavens Divide.
Keep blowing my mind away, Hideo Kojima!
You can have good acting and good writing but if you don’t have good music, it can change the quality of a TV show or movie drastically. The music usually is instrumental but, if used correctly, can be vocal too. Grey’s Anatomy is well known for their excellent use of vocal music produced by a large variety of artists. Today, I found out about Greg Laswell. Apparently, one of his songs was used during a season 4 episode of Grey’s Anatomy but I guess I never noticed that one. However, “Off I Go”, a song that he specifically produced for Grey’s Anatomy’s season 5 finale definately increased the climax moment at the end of the episode. That song was very well put and I’ve been listening to it ever since I heard it earlier today. He’s got many more good songs such as “Comes and Goes“, “How the Day Sounds” and “Sing, Theresa Says“. I found another favorite singer! Click for his page.
“Off I Go” by Greg Laswell.
E.S. Posthumus’ newest single: Arise; from their upcoming album called Deciphered. It’s so awesome, I love E.S. Posthumus.
Listen it in stereo here.
Look what just fell on my doormat! (figuratively speaking) My shiny Super Mario Galaxy OST by “Mario Galaxy Orchestra” as the cover says. Here are some pictures and some of my favorite songs of the album:

After seeing the trailer of Mirror’s Edge by developer DICE, I was not only in awe by its graphics but also by its music. But because the game wasn’t getting released anytime soon (and therefore no soundtrack anytime soon either), I stopped watching it. Until now. I suddenly thought about it again and searched for it, with result.
Listen to the Mirror’s Edge theme songs below. They’re awesome.

Time for some music! More specifically from one of my favorite composers: Yuki Kajiura. Her style is mostly classical and many tracks feature a choir that performs chants. I understand this is a genre that not everybody likes but please stop saying it’s church music because it’s not. ¬_¬
She’s composed music for many popular anime series such as .Hack//SIGN, Mai Hime (Otome as well), Madlax, Noir and Tsubasa Chronicle. This post will feature some of the best songs from .Hack//SIGN (which was an awesome anime series, by the way).
Yuki Kajiura – Key of the Twilight
